Otis Redding (1941-1967) was een Amerikaans zanger. Zijn lied Cigarettes and Coffee uit 1966 is een klassieker. Redding groeide op in Georgia en moest op zijn 15de al gaan werken om zijn familie te ondersteunen. Door deelname aan talentenjachten en het prijzengeld dat hij daarmee won, kon hij het hoofd boven water houden. In 1962 bracht hij zijn eerste single uit, These Arms of Mine. Een vliegtuigongeluk maakte in 1967 een eind aan zijn leven. Na zijn dood werden verschillende albums postuum uitgebracht.
