All that meat and no potatoes is een intrigerend liedje, beroemd geworden in deze uitvoering van Louis Armstrong en Velma Middleton. De originele versie is echter van Ed Kirkeby en Fats Waller uit 1941. Waller moest op een dag samenwerken met een vrouw die te weinig rondingen had: all that meat and no potatoes…
deze zinsnede werd in die tijd dan ook gebruikt om aan te geven dat een vrouw te veel vlees op de botten had en te weinig borsten. Ik heb meer ondeugende liedjes verzameld waarin de relatie met eten wordt gelegd, onder meer van Josephine Baker en Julia Lee die over spinazie heel wat te zeggen had.
